The Military Code

We have a code

Known by us and us alone

We have a brother hood

In the hood it’s not easy

We are all one

We are neither male nor female

Fair nor dark

We all have one name ‘sir’

We grumble with the worms in our tummy

We don’t grumble with our mouth

Lest the walls of our master’s office hear us

Lest we spend the cold night in the guard room

Our code says ‘obey before complain’

Our code says chest out, stand at attention, with your hands on your head

Our code says for the love of Nigeria

‘Onward ever,backward never’

    1. Nice poem. Despite their struggle to free us from terror we treat the army with disdain…their code says for the love of Nigeria yet we hate them and send them to Sambisa without arms.
